As shown in the plaintiff’s Amended Complaint, an expert witness was hired to offer an opinion about the alleged negligence of the doctor.
In the rest of this post, excerpts from both the plaintiff and defense expert witnesses are shown. Their opinions are shown alternating back and forth, in order to clearly communicate their respective narratives.
The discussion here starts with the defendant’s attorney questioning one of the plaintiff’s expert witnesses. In this section, they discuss the automated EKG interpretation.
The defense expert witness wrote a long opinion about the physician’s care of the patient. Excerpts of this are shown below. He starts with a review of the patient’s history, and the discrepancies in past medical history between the documentation from her first and second visits.
The defense expert witness also opined that the cardiac lab testing was appropriate and that the timing was far enough after her pain started.
Several opinions about the patient’s EKG are offered, as well as about the automated EKG interpretation.
We now switch back to the plaintiff’s expert witness. In this segment, he is reading from the defense expert witness’ opinion, and commenting on it.
Finally, the defense expert witness’ conclusion is shown below. He addresses the physician’s synthesis of multiple data points that resulted in the decision to discharge the patient. He also discusses their responsibility to arrange her post-ED care.
